(Hey! I see it's Brent from the Real McCoy II...glad to see the reporters made it all the way east to the ferry landing.  They had 20 minutes of 'down time' waiting for the allotted time to pass before they can run that brand-new $80M piece of floating poo-poo across Cache Slough...if it was up and running at all.

This brand new ferry is so messed up.  The new Kabota diesel engines leak fuel and hydraulic fluid into the water if they run them on demand as before.  Soooo, in order to make this albatross work, the Coast Guard has authorized the ferry to run three times an hour, every 20 minutes starting at the top of the hour.

Among other horrendous mid-construction design changes/flaws were arbitrarily modified by Cal-Trans, including changing the landing ramp to a V-ramp.  Nothing of any size can board the ferry at mid and low tides.  Well, this ferry apparently was never meant for this landing...look at the Transportation 2030 Plan, the ferry landing is moved north.  Among other things, I'd like to demand Kabota keep replacing those engines until they get it right.  Or better yet, why didn't they contract with John Deere??

And you thought my comments would be directed toward the BDCP plan!!!)
