Delta advocates would probably steer him toward a plan recently completed by the Delta Protection Commission, which concludes the levees can be improved for a fraction of the price of the twin tunnels.

Not so much for the aqueduct.  So Cal must take care of their real infrastructure deficiencies in securing a more reliable water supply before we literally destroy one of Nature's most beautiful of estuaries and drain it dry to satisfy So. Cal's insatiable desire for more.)

Under the Obama MOU, counsel for the detainees would be unable to access classified information, Guantánamo officials could cite “operational needs and logistical constraints” at any time to prevent a detainee’s access to lawyers, and Guantánamo’s military commander would have “final and unreviewable discretion” to enforce the MOU.

Slamming the last provision, Lamberth wrote that “If the separation-of-powers means anything, it is that this country is not one ruled by executive fiat. Such blanket, unreviewable power over counsel-access by the executive does not comport with our constitutional system of government.”

ForgeryGate Larry Klayman's Historic Letter to DNC Legal Counsel
http://www.impeachobamacampaign.com/forgerygate-larry-klaymans-historic-letter-to-dnc-legal-counsel/
The thrust of Larry Klayman’s letter to Attorney Bauer and the DNC is that as chief legal counsel, he cannot recommend that they place candidate Obama’s name on the Official Certificates of Nomination, or OCON’s, which they are required to submit to election officials in all fifty states. The bottom line, according to Attorney Klayman, is that given the refusal of Hawaii Registrar for Vital Statistics, Alvin Onaka, to verify the key facts of Obama’s birth as well as the validity of the birth certificate itself (posted at whitehouse.gov), when requested to do so by Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett, back on March 30th, there is no legally-allowable basis for any official to accept the document as proof of identity. It simply can’t be done legally!

Tensions Run High as Venue Downsize, Security Upgrade Cause Convention Chaos

(If you liked the past four years of Obama politics, this is just a little bit of what you can expect if reelection is successful:
Those with bowl seating who were not delegates were told to find seats on the second-floor level -- though the second-floor level had 100 seats behind the stage with no view of speakers or the giant TV screen inside the stadium.

"There are 100 seats left -- that's it -- with obstructed view," a Time Warner arena worker told those trying to enter. Even then, only those with certain passes were allowed in.

Adding insult to injury, those denied seats behind the stage later tried to use the ATM outside the nearby gate but found it out of order.

"Really? Really?” a man wearing a tall Obama hat said to no one in particular before running down the concourse. "No seat, no cash," he said.
I say,'yes, really...REALLY, with this administration, if you stand up for your rights, you lose your seat!  And, well get used to it, there is no money, no cash, nothing as long as the current course we are on continues unobstructed.  So how do you like it now Liberals?  Rank and file people are truly second-class citizens in the Democrats' eyes.  Shameful if they had any conscience.)

Judge Orders MWD to Begin Producing Documents in First Round of Discovery
http://www.sdcwa.org/judge-orders-mwd-begin-producing-documents-first-round-discovery-water-authority-rate-challenge
Today’s court hearing was a continuation of an August 3 hearing, in which Judge Kramer again rejected MWD’s arguments that the Water Authority was entitled to no discovery in the case. For the past eight months, MWD has vigorously tried to avoid any discovery in the case, filing numerous legal challenges to the court’s January 6, 2012 ruling that granted discovery, including a writ petition with California’s 1st Appellate District Court of Appeal. MWD’s writ was summarily denied by the Court of Appeal in April.

California's Peripheral Canal - Not Yet in the Bag

“They had to start over – trying to become a legitimate agency and a legitimate plan,” [Burt] Wilson continued. “To me, the BDCP is walking on tenuous ground every step it takes. The reason for that is because their authority doesn’t come from the people of California, as it should, through a vote.”

Lack of Equality in Delta Water Plan Evokes Feminist Principle: Think Globally, Act Locally
One thing not present at the meeting was equality. Peltier's district (along with a few other big contractors) had everything to do with writing the plan; the rest of the stakeholders, little or nothing. How did it happen and what do we do about the prospect of a multibillion dollar project being built – the largest water infrastructure project in California since 1960 – without a vote of the people or the legislature? Moreover, the five Delta counties – Contra Costa, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Solano and Yolo – whose water supply and agricultural land will be affected, oppose the plan. They have not had a role in its creation. http://californiaspigot.blogspot.com/2012/09/lack-of-equality-in-delta-water-plan.html

But arguably the most important single document in bringing the peripheral canal proposal back from the dead, and one of the most important documents in changing people's opinion about the canal, was a 2007 report by the Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC), Envisioning Futures For the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, that spoke about the current status of the Delta, and why something big needs to be done there.  And fast.
More about the ecosystem of the Delta, and the PPIC report, in the next installment.
(Boy, just think where we could/would be if this weren't being perpetuated by the Resource Legacy/Packard Foundation-funding/UC Davis 'science'-delivering machine???)

Hurricane Hypocricy
“No one can forget the iconic picture of President George Bush flying on Air Force one..looking down at New Orleans during Katrina,” gushed NBC’s Andrea Mitchell just before the beginning of the Republican convention. Katrina hit New Orleans on August 29, 2005. Bush flew over the city two days later. Hurricane Issac also hit Louisiana on August 29th. Thus a question for Andrea and her pals: Will you “remember” that the current president didn’t even bother to fly over, much less visit Louisiana until September 3rd? And will you tell the American people he had no plans to do so until Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney visited the flood-ravaged areas of that state last Friday and forced his hand?

The Medium Is The Message, Cowboy
http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/49227#When:10:27:34Z
When someone needs to “go down” or be “let go,” an adult does the job and does it decisively. Eastwood is really the standard bearer for all the cowboys who go into battle and stand for good and against evil. But as the man on the platform with a future President of the United States, his role was also that of the man calmly and courageously telling the world that a new sheriff is in town, a man who like the cowboy of old will take on the bad guys, keep his promises, and take care of us and our families. Plainspeak instead of bafflegab, the world and America breathed a sigh of relief. The message was delivered effectively, received, and understood.
It certainly was in China, at any rate…

The Sand Man Cometh...
http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/49228#When:10:25:32Z
“A torrential downpour that struck Charlotte on Saturday afternoon damaged the Mount Rushmore-style sand sculpture bust of President Obama—an ominous beginning to what many fear is a plagued convention.” (Washington Times, Sept. 1, 2012)  “Workers were trying Saturday afternoon to reform the base of the sculpture, built from sand brought in from Myrtle Beach, S.C., pounding and smoothing out the sand that had washed off the facade of the waist-up rendering of the chief executive.”
(This is just too good to pass up!  I think maybe God/Universe is replying symbolically to their symbols...oh the irony!!)

From Republic to Nanny State

You see, no where in there does it dictate that the state shall tell a man what he can do with his property, nor does it tell mankind that the state grants Rights, that we live under the ‘privilege’ of the state.  Nowhere does it say that the state shall provide solely for our protection, but that we are entitled to protect ourselves.

There are some conservatives who love the Republican Party so much they will not step back and ask themselves if the party is really lovable. The rest of us have a message to deliver to those love-blinded enthusiasts.  This week the party was anything but lovable. Michelle Malkin wrote on Wednesday:
I have no patience for the Republican party-bots telling these front-line soldiers to shut up in the name of unity — and to hide ‘in-fighting’ because the Left will publicize it… It should be publicized.”

"I think the country is in desperate trouble," he said. "I hate to say I'm pessimistic, but I'm very pessimistic. The party that I once thought stood for individual liberty has morphed into the same party as the Democrats. They're both big government, Wall Street–dominated parties.
